A Touch of Pink for Mel Callow Fundraiser Golf Day is being held this Sunday at the Yass Golf Club. The fundraiser will consist of an 18 and 9-hole stableford event and also a 9-hole event for non-handicap players.
The 18-hole event will start off the day, then followed by the 9-hole events starting after 1pm. There will be a barbecue and refreshments on the course throughout the day, while a silent auction will be held from 1pm to 6pm.
Nibbles will be served in the clubhouse from 5pm then a live auction will also be held at around 6.30pm. A raffle will be drawn as well, of which tickets have been available around Yass over the past couple of weeks. Goods for the auctions and raffles have been donated by individuals and business from the Yass district which has been a fantastic response for the fundraiser to help Mel and her family through their difficult time. Some of the items that have been donated include a beach house accommodation, stud rams and far too many more items to mention. The full list of items will be displayed at the clubhouse on Sunday, and there are some fantastic items that will appeal to all. Anyone wishing to play golf is welcome to attend and can contact Kirk Davis on 6226 1977 to organise a tee time. If you’re not into the golf, all are welcome to attend just for for the auctions and raffles throughout the day. And remember, wear something pink!
Manson wins again
George Manson has continued his good form into the New Year, following his Yass Golf Club C-grade championship win and December Guzzler victory, with the January Guzzler win on a count back.
Manson edged Richard Julian, with both players coming in with 60 nets. Richard did, however, win the C-grade prize while the A-grade went to Ian Kemp who shot a 62 net. Well done to George on a fabulous run of stroke-play golf.
Also over the Christmas break Lachlan Kemp scored 38 points to win the Boxing day event; Callan Kemp won the Saturday Stableford event on December 27 with 44 points; Richard Julian won the Sunday Stableford event on December 28 with 44 points; and Nick Carmody won the New Year’s Day event with an excellent 45 points to top the biggest point scorer over the festive season and now the largest for the year. Well done to all players who competed and welcome to 2015.
