Touch Football ACT state manager Rod Wise was happy to report that there were no incidents on or off the field. 

“It was very successful with no forfeits, the 104 standard teams were there and it was great when it came to the finals, with excellent football played all round,” Wise said. 

“There was huge support from all the referees, with the finals refereed by level six professionals from Sydney and Melbourne.” 

The 'Ninja Cats- Yass' was beaten 7-4 by ‘Mitta’ in the quarter-finals of the Mixed C-grade competition and another Yass side, ‘Kiss My Pass’ was beaten 13-1 by ‘Hustle N Flow’ in the same competition.

Yass' ‘Smokin Darts & Breakin Hearts’ was beaten 13-2 by ‘Freezin Dragons’ in the first round of the Mixed A-grade competition.

Australia’s number one referee David Baggio strolled in on Sunday morning at 10.30 to referee some of the games as well. 

“He didn’t want to put any of the other refs out by doing any finals, so he just watched. It is very good that a ref at that level thinks that way, it is a credit to him.” 

Wise said some of the stand out teams this year were, ‘Te Whanau’ from Manly, ‘Freezin Dragons’ from Liverpool and team ‘Inferno’ from Sydney. 

“The Defence Force team, ‘Once Were Warriors’ had one of its players fly in from Malaysia on Friday and back on Monday, another of its players came from Townsville,” he said.  

The tournament is considered a great way to prepare for the National Titles.   

“With Nationals around the corner, teams come along to play a number of different and fair games. The Defence Force team has always looked at it that way, more teams are.”

The winners of the finals received $1000 prize money; runners up $500 and semi-finalists $260. $16,160 prize money was distributed amongst 28 teams.

Men’s A Grade

Freezin Dragons Liverpool defeated Te Whanau Manly 19-14 in the Final. Freezin Dragons defeated the Eagles Yass led by Ben Wylie 11-4 in the semi-final and Te Whanau defeated The Eggs from St George 13-6 in the other semi-final.

Men’s B Grade

Sam’s Eels Albury defeated Flamingos No. 1 from Bondi 10-5 in the Final.  Sam’s Eels defeated Papakowhai Pistols Sydney 15-8 in the semi-final and Flamingos No. 1 defeated Murray River Warriors Albury 7-6 in the other semi-final.

Men’s C Grade

The Squad Sydney defeated Brother Mogo 16-11 in the Final. The Squad defeated the Condobolin Boomerangs 14-13 in the semi-final and Brother Mogo defeated the Melbourne Uni Blacks 13-8 in the other semi-final.

Women’s A Grade

Te Whanau Manly defeated Synergise Melbourne 13-10 in the final. Te Whanua defeated Up The Goats Central Coast 11 -8 in the semi-final and Synergise defeated La Pandilla Adelaide 12-5 in the other semi-final.

Women’s B Grade

Freezin OMG Liverpool defeated the Dragons Central Coast 5-nil in the final. Freezin OMG Liverpool  defeated Flamingos No. 1 Bondi 5-2 in the semi- final and the Dragons defeated Bathurst Boltz 9-6 in the semi-final.

Mixed  A Grade

Te Whanua Manly defeated Sydney Rebels 6-5 in the final. Te Whanau defeated Team Inferno Sydney 7-6 in the semi-final and Sydney Rebels defeated Freezin Dragons Liverpool 12-5 in the other semi-final.

Mixed B Grade

Vic Young Guns Melbourne defeated Freezin Stuffers Liverpool 11-10 in the final. Vic Young Guns defeated the Goulburn Merinos 6-5 in the semi-final and Freezin Stuffers defeated Flamingos No. 1 Bondi 11-6 in the semi-final.

Mixed C Grade

Hustle N Flow Sydney defeated the Winnunga Possums Canberra 19-8 in the final. Hustle N Flow defeated Mitta 7-2 in the semi-final and the Winnunga  Possums defeated USYD Meerkats Sydney 7-6 in the other semi-final.
