Hugh Bowman is in the peculiar position of riding after his suspension has started at the rescheduled Warwick Farm meeting on Friday. Bowman was suspended for five meetings on Monday, which started on Thursday, but with Warwick Farm postponed, he has to fulfil his engagements from that meeting on Friday. "It is different but under the rules I have to ride because I had made the commitment," Bowman said. The champion jockey has plenty of work while serving the careless riding ban next week. He will head to Newcastle to ride Melbourne Cup winner Protectionist and Lucia Valentina in barrier trials on Monday before rushing back to Randwick for trials there. "Kris [Lees] asked me to come out [and] have a feel of them, and with the Randwick trials starting at noon, I should be back for them," Bowman said. "It is certainly a busy time of year and you want to give busy."
