Having studied Mathematics, Advanced English, Senior Science, PDHPE, Business Studies and Construction, Matt was awarded an ATAR of 83.65, making him the highest achiever in Yass High's class of 2014.
“I was pretty happy with the result. I already had early entry so that did take a lot of the pressure off, but I was happy to get great marks,” Matt said.
Matt received a mark of 94 in Senior Science placing him in the Band 6 bracket. He scored the exact same in Mathematics.
“I stayed pretty relaxed during the exams because of the early entry, but I’m glad that it’s all over,” he said.
Matt will take a gap year in 2015 and continue his education at Wollongong University in 2016, to study a double degree in Engineering and Commerce.
“I wanted to do civil engineering and I like business studies. I heard it was a good combination, not many engineers have that business mindset,” he said
“It is only one extra year to have another degree.
“I think my parents are very proud. They’re happier than I was I think.”
Matt will be working and relaxing on his year off, taking a long holiday to New Zealand in April.
