I attended the Yass Valley Council meeting on Wednesday. What I thought and heard in relationship to Murrumbateman sewerage PUZZLED me.
Sewerage would cost $4 million for 100 (105) houses (the number of houses may double with developments). To cover this debt, the Yass Valley would pay $250,000 per year for 20 years. Sewerage charges to Murrumbateman houses would net $15,000. It was noted that sewerage would increase the value of the Murrumbateman houses.
I estimated this out roughly per house.
Cost to Yass Valley Council for sewerage connection per house- $40,000.
Cost to Yass Valley Council to repay above debt plus interest per house is $2500 per year for 20 years.
Each house in Murrumbateman pays $150 per year.
If the number of houses in Murrumbateman doubles, this would halve the cost per house to the Yass Valley to $1250 per house to service the debt. Still a great deal at $150 per house for Murrumbateman residents.
Pity my bank will not give me such a great deal!
Something here does not add up!
