The visit was for the ambassador to observe what the Yass Mens Shed were doing and learn more about its operation in the hope of setting up a similar service in Uruguay.
Yass Men's Shed president David Staines said it was a great honour to have him visit Yass.
“He has heard of the movement and hopes to help spread it all over the world,” he said.
“We are very excited that someone of his stature has heard about the Yass Men's Shed. Most exciting he wants to see what we're doing, that reflects on how good our reputation is.”
“I believe that we may have started a relationship there that will be very fruitful.”
Mr Staines described the movement as "better than sliced bread" and most gratifying to be a part of.
The Yass Men's Shed currently has 102 members, and provides a safe haven for men to talk without any restrictions.
Mr Staines hopes that there will be a strong relationship with the eventual branch in Uruguay.
