Bronte and Tom have just returned from the Speedo Sprints, a NSW Swimming event held at Homebush and both youngsters couldn’t be happier with their results.
Bronte swam in the 50-metre freestyle, backstroke and breastroke races, while Tom performed well in all four disciplines. He also qualified in a few relays as well.
The pair qualified for the event thanks to strong swims in the qualifier at Tumut and Bronte said it was good fun when she was on the blocks ready for her race.
“I was a bit nervous, but it was really good,” she said on Monday.
“I was also busy waving a lot and looking for my family so that was good too.”
The nine-year-old also competed in the James Brophy Invitational at the AIS on Sunday where she swam extremely well. Bronte had a huge meet, swimming in a massive seven events.
Another Yass teenager Ben Scanes also swam well, notching good results in some relay events. He also performed strongly notching PB’s in the 50-metre butterfly and 50-metre backstroke swimming under the Yass Amateur Swimming Club.
Boorowa’s Brock Ritchie also swam well.
Bronte said she loves swimming and wants to continue to swim well into the future.
“Well I just love to swim and I have good friends that swim,” she said.
“I like the feeling I get when I swim, too.”
Bronte’s mum Sharon Anderson couldn’t be prouder.
“I love watching her swim and it’s great to see her going so well. A lot of credit has to go to her coach Sherree Bush though, she’s been great with the kids.”
She said while the season is coming to an end, Bronte will no doubt be training throughout winter.
"You couldn't keep her out of the pool if you tried, she loves it."
