It is very important that we are who God planned for us to be, and that we don’t try to be, or allow others to try to make us someone we are not.

We all know the wonderful story of David and Goliath don’t we. But if you examine it closely in the book of 1 Samuel, you will see that there are some real keys for defeating the Goliaths in our own lives.
Firstly, God had prepared David in the wilderness against the lion and the bear, secondly he gave him great courage, thirdly he gave him the talent and the gifts that were unique to him – a slingshot and stones, so he was well prepared for battle, knowing that if God was on his side, how could he fail.
But then, once Saul gave in and said he could fight Goliath, what did Saul do? Well he tried to put HIS armour on David. He tried to make him something that he was not. He had all the best intention, I am sure, but David was wise enough, even at his young age to know that he couldn’t fight the battle, trying to be something he was not, or wearing someone else's armour. So David prevailed over Goliath because he stayed true to who he was, he defeated Goliath because he used the gifts and talents that God had given HIM and trained him for. He defeated Goliath because he was in partnership with the Spirit of God – and his reward was great.
What Goliath are you facing in your life today? It may be a problem or an opportunity, but whatever it is, be yourself. Because that is who God made you to be. Don’t try to be someone else and don’t let anyone else dress you in armour that doesn’t fit.
Ask yourself today, “whose armour am I wearing?” and if the answer is someone else’s, then ask God to help to remove it from you.
Neglect not the gift that God has placed in you, partner with the Holy Spirit and you can overcome any Goliath that you face, but do it by being true to who you are.
May this short word be an encouragement to you today friends. God Bless.
