The pair sat down with Cosmopolitan UK ahead of the London premiere of their new film Avengers: Age of Ultron, to find that they would need to answer the questions their other half had most commonly fielded on the film's extensive press tour.

The first question was for Ruffalo​: "What are you wearing on the red carpet this evening?"

"A suit, I'm wearing a suit," he replied after a slightly long pause. "A Burberry suit as a tip of the hat to my being in London."

"Is it a tweed suit?" Johansson​ asked, prompting Ruffalo​, 47, to clarify it was a midnight blue.

"I'm sure you'll look very spiffy," Johansson​, 30,  said.

Johansson​, on the other hand did a great job explaining how the stunts in the action film worked.

"All of this action stuff for all of the characters is a huge, combined effort ... I get a lot of the hand-to-hand combat stuff and a lot of the tactile, real choreography," she said, before clarifying that she does have some help.

"I have an amazing, amazing stuntwoman, Heidi Moneymaker – that's her real name – and she's just incredible. This is, like, our fifth or sixth movie together, so we've really fused into one."

The experiment comes after Johansson​ herself drew attention to the difference between her questions and the questions asked of her co-stars at a London press conference for the original Avengers film in 2012.

"How come you get the really interesting existential question, and I get the like, "rabbit food" question?" the Her actress asked after a journalist directed a question to co-star Robert Downey Jr. about his character's growing maturity, while she was asked how she stayed in shape to wear the Black Widow costume.

The interview was a welcome change on the blockbuster's press tour, which has been riddled with scandals.

Johansson's​ co-stars Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner were forced to apologise after they made derogatory comments about Johansson's​ character in an interview with Digital Spy last week.

The pair were required to apologise for their comments after they called Marvel's Black Widow a "slut" and a "whore".

"Yesterday we were asked about the rumours that Black Widow wanted to be in a relationship with both Hawkeye and Captain America," Evans said in a statement. "We answered in a very juvenile and offensive way that rightfully angered some fans. I regret it and sincerely apologise."

"I am sorry that this tasteless joke about a fictional character offended anyone," Renner also said in a statement. "It was not meant to be serious in any way. Just poking fun during an exhausting and tedious press tour."

Fellow Avengers star Robert Downey Jr. also made headlines last week when he walked out of an interview with the UK's Channel 4 after a journalist asked about his struggles with drug and alcohol addition.
