The Magpies were required to bounce back from a horror start at Walker Park, after Bungendore crashed over in just the second minute of the game.
Yass responded quickly, though, with three quick tries to Josh Doak, Matt Lawrence and standout performer Josh Hall.
Lawrence's try came on the back of a quick tap, which was the result of his clutch 40-20 kick.
As the half came to a close, five quick penalties against Yass gave Bungendore six repeat sets, which eventually resulted in points for the visitors.
Yass then went to the sheds leading 18-10 in a solid position, but with work to do.
Bungendore returned to the field the fresher, more aggressive side but the Magpies stayed solid, absorbed the pressure and turned it into points at the other end.
Shaun Davis was the man for Yass, trampling the Bungendore defence and crashing over.
Bungendore responded soon after which kept the match in the balance but an inspirational surge from Josh Hall, which saw him drag three players with him, resulted in a match-winning try.
Bungendore managed to cross with five minutes on the clock but it was too late for the Tigers and despite nursing several injuries on the interchange bench, Yass notched its first win of the season.
Captain-coach Brad Wylie was satisfied with the team's performance, particularly their defence.
"We defended well, especially on our line," he said.
"But we made a lot of mistakes on first and second tackles which put unnecessary pressure on us."

END BOLD
The Girlpies had another outing to forget, losing to the Tigerettes 42-10. It comes on the back of a flogging at the hands of Harden which means they have a lot to think about during their bye round this weekend.
The men travel to Griffith to face Boomanulla, who lost to Crookwell in Crookwell last weekend.
