Yass won the heated division six fixture beforehand by four goals to one, and was leading 2-0 with 13 minutes to go in the second game, when a fight broke out in the middle of the Walker Park pitch.
Two Brindabella players were given red cards for striking, and another card was shown to a Yass player, before the referee called the match off.
Coach Gary Lennon said it was a tricky situation to make a comment on.
"It's very disappointing, the club is on a high, with Division 6 and Division 5 both in second place repectively on the ladder. We don't need things like this distracting us from our goals mid season," he said.
"Thankfully Yass Football Club provided one referee and two assistant referees who controlled an ugly situation from getting too far out of control."
It ended what should have been a day of celebrations for Yass, with fullback Ben Cover playing his 200th and 201st game for the club. He's the most capped Redback of all time, at just 23-years-old.
Cover was presented with a jacket recognising the achievement prior to the division six game kicking off.
"The club has been such a big part of my life for so long so I was elated I got to play my 200th game," Cover said.
"The club as a whole is fantastic, so here's hoping I'll be able to play another 200."
Because Yass was leading in the abandoned match it is hoped that they'll take home three points, but that will be left to Capital Football's tribunal.
"Hopefully we will take maximum points, three points in this competition are hard to come by and by my calculations we need 30 points to make fourth spot in the final series," Lennon said.
The women Division 3 Redbacks enjoyed a victory at Mawson on Sunday.
Up against Tuggeranong, the ladies never looked like losing, running out 5-0 winners.
The ladies have notched just one other win this year and captain-coach Ingrid Davis said she was pleased with the result.
Goalscorers on the day were Natasha Farnsworth, Amalie Ringdal Birkhol, Victoria Alley, Emma Biddle and Davis.
In the Division four match the girls went down in a close one, eventually losing 1-0.
Coach Kath Farnell said her girls didn't really deserve to walk away with nothing.
"The scoreboard didn't really represent the game at the weekend," she said.
"We had most of the possession, but unfortunately Tuggeranong managed to sneak one through. Despite this the girls continued to give it their all. I am incredibly proud of how the crew is coming together."
On Saturday the men will face Gungahlin United at Walker Park, with the division six match kicking off at 1pm. The women have a bye this weekend.
