David Walker and Tim Smith have returned from the Gold Coast after competing in the Auto Club Championships held at the Royal Pines Resort this week. After the first round of competition in the 36 hole event the pair came in with 34 points a-piece. After day one the boys must have worked out the course as they came in with 42 and 41 points leaving their 36 hole total at 151 points and good enough to come in 4th place out of 80 teams entered, who came from all over Australia to compete. Well done to David and Tim on a mighty grand effort. In last Saturday’s Stableford event Bill Mackay was on fire shooting a four over par round 43 points, to take out the A-grade prize by four shots from Edgar Mongan’s 39 points. In the B-grade Nev Matthews took the prize out in a three way count back from Nic Carmody and Michael Walker who had 36 points, while in the C-grade Rick Jackson took the money with 36 points also. In the Sunday event Neil Henderson took the prize with 38 points just beating Wayne Wilson’s 37. This weekend we have another couple of Stableford events, before next weekend’s Guzzlers Mug.

The pea souper of a fog kept a few players away from the Dad's Army competition last week, as there was only eight starters but the fog didn't stop Merv ‘The Yo-yo Man’ Wright from knocking up 19 points to win the money. Daylight was second and then Peter Anderson's 16 points won the only ball on offer after a count back. Scoring ranged from 19 down to 10 points. Peter ‘Mr. Consistent’ Anderson is the 2015 Dad's Army champion after defeating Doug Oldfield after a very close contest one-up. Congratulations to Peter for backing up after also winning last year and thanks to all who participated this year. Until next week good golfing ‘boys’.
