In extraordinary cirumstances, the girls were beaten just minutes before the end of extra time.
Despite the loss, coach Craig Barrett was proud of his charges.
"Yeah look I definitely am (proud)," he said.
"The girls did great, all the training paid off and it was just disappointing to lose it the way we did but the girls put in a hell of an effort.
"We probably deserved to win in the end but hey, that's soccer."
Yass High started slowly on Monday and were outclassed by the home-side in the first stanza. However, they quickly gained the ascendancy in the second and levelled the match up at 1-1, courtesy of an impressive goal from Amalie Birkhol.
Victoria Alley had a chance to win it for Yass as well, but hit the post with one of her many attacking shots late in the game.
The full-time whistle meant that at a goal a-piece the match would go into extra time.
Yass High continued to look the stronger side but in the end, the footballing gods proved to be on Moss Vale's side and some fortunate refereeing decisions gave them a chance to sneak one past stand-in keeper Ashleigh Parker. Parker would later go on to be named Player's Player for her efforts.
Barrett said while he disagreed with a number of the referee's calls, he was happy with the spirit the game was played in.
"The Moss Vale girls were really a great bunch of girls and we wish them all the best, and if we couldn't have gone through I think we were all happy that it was them."
Barrett will now lose most of his side due to graduation, but he has high hopes about further success over the next couple of years.
"I think we'll be able to keep about seven girls for next year, so the team will no doubt be different.
"But we still have some from defence, from midfield and attack so we do have the core there, now it's just a case of just bringing in some other girls and I think we'll try and start looking at that maybe this year."
