Last weekend at the Yass Golf Club the course was playing a lot slower after the welcomed rain, although the course was still mainly in good condition with the greens still tricky. On Saturday an excellent field of 62 players turned up for the Ambrose Event. It was Rollie Camons and Craig McDermott who came out on top with their handy 10 handicap to give them an even 61 nett to take the day’s prize from nearest competitors Callan and Daniel Kemp with their 61.25 nett. In Sunday’s Stableford Event scores were low, with the best of the day being Phil White with his 36 points. He took the money from the other 23 players on the day, with balls going down to 32 points.

Winners: Rollie Camons and Craig McDermott 71-10-61. Runners-up: Callan and Daniel Kemp 68-6.25-61.25. The Australian Hotel nearest the pins went to Michael Bell on the eighth and Damien Williams on the 16th. The Yass Valley Tyre Service NTP on the 11th went to Michael Coggan and the Mick Curtis sponsored nearest after two shots on the fourth went to Mark Holt.
Sunday June 21: Stableford Event
Winner: Phil White (8) 36 points. Ball winners: P White 36, M Walker 35, M Coggan 35, R Smethills 34, C Kemp 34, R Greig 33 and I Kemp 32 points. The nearest the pin on the 16th hole went to Lance Edwards (119cm).
Dad’s Army competition for June 18
It was a very wintry morning for the six competitors that played in the Dad's Army competition last week and Wilbur ‘The Travelling Man’ Whyte was declared the winner with 14 points. Peter Doyle collected the only ball on offer with 13 points. Scoring ranged from 14 down to 8 points.
