Police from The Hume Local Area Command have charged a man following investigations into the theft of firearms and ammunition from a home in Yass at the weekend.

At around 3am on Saturday, four rifles were stolen from a home on Orion Street, Yass. The theft was reported immediately and police began their investigations.
At about 4pm on Monday, police attended a home in Nash Place, where they arrested a 38-year-old man.
He was taken to Yass Police Station where he was questioned by police.
As a result of further investigation, police recovered the four rifles from an address in Yass.
The 38-year-old man was charged with break, enter and steal. He was refused bail, and appeared in Yass Local Court yesterday.

A Sydney man will be in gaol for at least the next 18 months after violating conditions of his parole. He was pulled over on the Hume Highway at Gunning yesterday when it was discovered that he had a warrant out for his arrest. The man was travelling with a woman who had breached conditions of her bail. She was refused bail until July 21.
A 38-year-old man was charged with high-range drink driving after being arrested following an incident on Yass Valley Way.
The man, from Epping, was subjected to a breath test at about 3.30am on June 27 which returned a positive reading.
He was conveyed to Yass Police Station where he registered a reading of 0.195.
A 27-year-old Yass man has been charged with high-range PCA after he was stopped at 11pm on Saturday June 27.
The P2 driver was pulled over driving a Toyota Hilux on Meehan Street for the purposes of an RBT.
After registering a positive roadside test he was conveyed to Yass Police Station and recorded a blood alcohol level of 0.189.
During the daylight hours of July 2 a property was broken into at Sutton. Offender/s smashed a window, disturbed several rooms and made off with a number of power tools, a phone and jewellery.
There was no one at home at the time and police are continuing to investigate the matter.
A small fire started at a property on Shaw Street on Sunday at 7.45pm. Police believe it was ignited by a fuse box and they are not treating it as suspicious.
