This was Stuart’s first World Championships following a 13-year break from the sport.
“I expected to be among the top shooters” Stuart said.
“And I was confident that I could shoot well but to be able to take out the top shooters in the Match Play event was a real bonus”.
The weather was a big contrast from Yass, with the mercury sitting at 31 degrees Celsius and the humidity at 90 percent. It made for very uncomfortable shooting.
Stuart shoots in the Target Crossbow division. Unlike the mass produced crossbows, target bows are specialist custom made bows providing a high degree of accuracy over distances up to 65m, if shot well.
Stuart’s fellow team member, Mark Goodyer from South Australia, achieved Silver and Bronze medals in the Championships.
The Championships were held in Florida, USA, and attracted 57 shooters from 11 countries. For further information about archery or crossbow shooting, contact Stuart at crossbow@archery.org.au.
