“We have a long list of projects that ideally, if we had the budget, we would complete them all, however this isn’t the case so we have had to prioritise the list of projects and are therefore seeking comment from the Yass community,” Director of Engineering Gary Chapman said.
“We feel that the list of projects (pictured right) will add significant improvement, value and further enhance current facilities and amenities available to residents of Yass.”
The funding was contributed by developers to Council for the provision of public infrastructure and community facilities, collected within the Yass Township and therefore are only eligible to be spent within the Yass Township.
The amount of $150,000 will be used in the upgrade to amenities and canteen facilities at Victoria Park and was the largest amount given to a single project by the councilors. $10,000 was given for the embellishment to Laidlaw Street for tree planting, this was the smallest. (See table for full list.)
Public submissions regarding the undertaking of these works is available up until 5pm, Friday October 2. Submissions are to be addressed to General Manager, Yass Valley Council, PO Box 6 YASS NSW 2582.
