With the prelude to the Championship Season starting this weekend at the Yass Golf Club, there was some hot scores last Saturday in Stableford Event with the best of them being Michael Coggan coming in with a superb 43 points to win the A-grade money from Peter Brady with his 42 points. In the B-grade Rod Perceval took out the prize with his 42 points on a count back from Doug Oldfield.

In Super Sunday’s Stroke Event sponsored by Firth Furnishing, Wayne Biddle had a 64 nett to win the money on a count back from Peter Brady, while the Super Pin went to Brad Porter on the 16th hole. This Saturday's Championship Event is the 4BBB sponsored by Elders Yass, with last year’s winners being Robert Field and Tim Smith. They are sure to be contenders again to back it up. This Sunday’s event is a two-person ambrose Green Keepers Challenge sponsored by Tim Smith, then in a couple of weeks it’s the start of the Club Championships four rounds of stroke over the two weekends, sponsored by the Australian Hotel. So members, now is the time to be out there getting your game in shape.

The Australian Hotel nearest the pins went to Jamie Roche on the 8th and Wilbur Whyte on the 16th. The Yass Valley Tyre Service 11th went to Peter Brady and the Mick Curtis sponsored nearest after two shots on the fourth went to Ian Bluett.

The weather was a lot kinder for the 12 Troops in the Dad's Army competition last week, with the scores being mostly on the up with Rick Jackson being the stand out performer with a strong 22 points to take home the money. The players receiving balls were Graham Howlett 19, Doug Oldfield 18 and Peter Anderson 17 points after a count back. Scoring ranged from 22 down to eight points.
