Managing Director of 100% Events, Mark Stewart, said moving the event to somewhere near Murrumbateman could give visitors even more incentive to take part.

"We're looking at possibly integrating the run inside a local winery or something like that which will be a great development because we think it will attract even more people to the area," he said.

"We want to make it so visitors are basically doing a weekend activity, along with the run."

Stewart said the festival, which started and finished at Riverbank Park, was again a huge success at the weekend.

"All the runners were happy, all the spectators were happy and we had really fantastic weather for running which is great, and I think it was a good thing for the town."

There were around 400 entrants all up, participating in four events; half marathon, 14 kilometre, 5 kilometre and 2.5 kilometre.

The challenging and hilly course, which begins at the park and goes out of town via Morton Avenue, attracted runners from all over NSW.

For the second time Murrumbateman father of three Jim Godfrey got the win in the half marathon while another local, Fleur Flannery, came first overall in the 14 kilometre foot race.

Andrew Douglas, Foundation Member of Yass Runners - the group behind the establishment of the event, said that yet again he was extremely happy with the weekend.

"For the third year in a row Yass put on a show and it wasn't just the runners who made it a special event either," he told the Tribune.

"A special thanks has to go to all the volunteers and just everyone that cheered the competitors on ... because their support is so helpful, especially if you are running and only just manage to get up one of those deadly hills! They give you that push that helps you keep going."

Dave Richards, Sales Manager with major sponsor Classic Constructions, said it's an event his company loves to support.

"Running is a great way to bring people together and we support the event because we all want and need good health and this is a way to make it fun. Classic Constructions also believes in excellence and good health is fundamental to high achievement."

Stewart also wanted to express his thanks to Bernadette Collins at the Yass Wellness Centre as well as Classic Constructions.

"It's pretty simple, even if one of those sponsors didn't come on this year, we would have had to cancel the event ... it's imperative that we continue to get local support for the festival."
