Last Saturday was the first of the season’s Championship events at the Yass Golf Club, with the Elders 4BBB Championship taking place. And, for the second year running, Tim Smith and Rob Field got the win with 65 off the sticks. It was although a tough win for the boys as they had to return to the club later in the afternoon after playing early in the day, as Sam Porter and Luke Corcoran had also come in with 65, so a playoff was required. In the end a birdie on the second hole for Tim Smith was enough for Tim and Rob to take out the Championship. Congratulations to Tim and Rob and to all the other players who competed. A thanks must also go to Phil White from Elders Yass for the continued sponsorship of this event over many years now.

On Sunday the event was a 2 Person Ambrose Green Keepers Challenge Event, with the course being set up with some very challenging tee and pin positions by Tim Smith and Kirk Davis the previous evening. The winners were Tim Smith and Sam Porter with 61.5 net, but only just from Kym Butler and Ryan Greig who came in with 61.75 net. A big thanks to Tim Smith for sponsoring the event in what was a fun day for all the competitors.
The On Trend Clothing Guzzlers Mug is on Saturday and stableford events are on Sunday and Monday. Club championships start next week. The Business House competition preliminary round starts next week, so get your teams organised.
