With the Club Championships commencing this weekend, last Saturday’s On Trend Clothing’s Guzzlers Mug Stroke event was a good prelude to the four rounds of stroke play.

In last Saturday’s event it was Rick Jackson who came up trumps to win the Guzzlers Mug, with his 63 net on a count back from Gary Rees-Kerr.
Rod Bullman won the A-grade with a 66 net, Ryan Greig claimed the B-grade win with a 64 net and Rick Jackson took the money in the C-grade, as well as the Mug. In the putting competition Gary Butcher was the best of them, with 25 putts.
In Sunday’s and Monday’s stableford events, Lachlan Kemp proved he is in good form for the Championships, coming in with 41 points on both days to take the money. It would be great to see as many members as possible competing over the course of the championships, but if you can’t make all the four days of play there are daily prizes being awarded as on a normal weekend competition. In last year’s Club Championships Sam Porter got the win, but he certainly has some stiff competition this year. A huge number of A-grade players are in sublime form so it will make Sam’s job, of defending his title, all the more difficult. To check on the progress of the championships after the first two rounds, it would great to see as many members up in the Club House this Sunday for the Yass Golf Club’s AGM, which is due to commence at 6pm.

Dad’s Army competition for October 1
It was a beautiful morning for the 11 players in the Dad's Army competition last week, with some very good scores carded but none better than Rick Jackson's 22 points. Rick will have to check his handicap with the starter next time as he has lost five shots in two rounds. On any other day Graham Howlett's 21 points would have been the winner, followed by Wilbur Whyte's 19 points and Kevin Mann's 18 points. All these players received a ball for their fine efforts. Scores ranged from 22 down to eight points.
Until next week good golfing ‘boys’.
