Another brilliant Monday morning after a pretty good weekend. We've had cool mornings, hot afternoons but no rain in sight.

Another month gone and nearly another year gone. Where does the time go to? I bet Santa Claus and his elves are flat out and the reindeers are training hard for the task ahead.
The pleasant weather did nothing to entice the bowlers on to the green. It seems nothing will. Just four players turned up on Friday evening and enjoyed a social game. Perhaps people will have more spare time after Christmas.
Pat, Ethel and I played in the Boorowa Ex-Services Club President's Day last week and were lucky enough to bring home the runner-up trophy. A Christmas pudding for each of us. That is the last of the bowls programme for this year so we finished on a bit of a high. We are pretty much now limited to just the three of us as no one else seems to be available to go to these days. No young ones on the horizon and by young ones I mean under 80. (Apologies to Pat as she has a while to go before she reaches that milestone.)
Golfers continue to enjoy the chicken run but like the bowls, the numbers are disappointing. Ethel took advantage of her increased handicap and beat the men to claim first prize with Mark Graham the runner-up. Jason Saunders won the putting after a countback from John Lee and Tony Blair took out the Bradman prize. Such is golf, Tony won the last two Sundays. One player who will be missing for a few weeks is Peter Curtis who had both knees operated on last week and who is now in rehab for several days. Good luck with it all Peter. Probable functions at the club in the next two or three weeks include a Christmas Social, Christmas Raffle and a party for the kids. The membership draw will commence again from December 6 and will jackpot $50 a week until won. Members and intending members are reminded that subs are now due.
The annual gathering of caravan-lovers took place last week with several vans occupying the recreation ground and enjoying the high life of Binalong. They certainly swelled the numbers at the club raffle on Sunday night and were lucky enough to take home several of the prizes. Former residents Tony and Helen Curtis are always among the holiday makers.
The Rural Fire Service will be holding the pre-season fire meeting in the hotel lounge on Thursday at 7.30pm and anyone interested is invited to attend.
The local Rescue Squad is appealing for volunteers to join the squad to enable it to continue the service it has provided for the last 35 years. They are seeking truck drivers and anyone interested in training for the handling of motor vehicle accidents, inland waterways, cave/vertical rescue as well as auxiliary members. Training is one Saturday and one Wednesday evening a month. A meeting will be held in the Old Court House on December 9 at 7pm and anyone interested is invited to attend.
In the school bulletin Miss O'Connor reminds those going to see Matilda to be on time at 6am, in sports uniform and with enough food packed for morning and afternoon tea and lunch - and to leave all technology at home.
The children will have a Christmas Card and Decoration Making Day on Tuesday December 8 and any help would be appreciated. Meanwhile, their veggie garden is beginning to be profitable with produce available for a gold coin donation. They pickled onions last week.
The kinder orientation went very well over the last five weeks and they are also invited to attend the card making day.
Stars last week went to Trent Robinson Alivia Kruger and Oscar Robinson.
Until Next Time.
