One person is in hospital following a collision between a Land Cruiser utility and a Kia car on Sutton Road at about 6.30pm on Monday night. The driver of the second vehicle attempted to overtake the first vehicle, which was turning right. The Kia rolled a rolled of times and came to rest on its roof. The driver was conveyed by ambulance to Canberra Hospital. The collision occurred near the driveway of 2500 Sutton Rd. Crews from Sutton RFS, along with Goulburn police and other emergency services attended the scene. Sutton Road was closed for around an hour.
A B-Double travelling towards Yass failed to negotiate a corner in Binalong and ran off the road near the corner of Stephen and Fitzroy Streets at around 10am this morning (Tuesday). Volunteers from the Binalong RFS who attended found the truck upright and the driver uninjured. The truck required towing.
Gunning RFS responded to reports of a fire in a car in the vicinity of Frankfield and Lerida Creeks, about 6km east of Gunning shortly after 1pm. The fire was confined to the engine compartment but the Gunning volunteers monitored the vehicle until it was clear there was no further danger. No one was injured in the incident.
RFS spokesperson Peter Dyce paid tribute to all the emergency services involved, both paid and unpaid.
“People don’t realise how much time our volunteers put in,” he said. “All the emergency services in Yass do a great job. They all work together well.”
