Reece Bush tasted his first success with the the king-size power species on Monday, when he joined his dad Jamie Bush and two mates for a day’s fishing on the south coast at Bermagui. They’d heard the big fish were on the bite and decided the time was right for Reece to go for it himself.
After a few hours on the water, fishing with a 24kg line, Reece’s dream came true, although the youngster had to fight to bring it all to fruition.
“He did it all himself,” Mr Bush said. He also noted it took “a bit of complaining and a few choice words” before his son landed the 105kg Black Marlin.
It’s hard to tell who is the prouder, young Reece or his very chuffed father.
“He did really well. I’m very proud of him,” Bush Sr said. “He’s only 12, but already running out of goals. But I’m sure he’ll work out some new ones.”
Reece’s triumph follows on the heels on the 72kg blue fin tuna he landed 18 months ago, also off Bermagui. (Yass Tribune July 9 2014) http://www.yasstribune.com.au/story/2405504/what-a-catch/
