Redbacks Division 3 won 5-0 against the Burns Club, a team which hasn’t lost a game for two years.

Five minutes before half-time the Burns Club keeper miss-kicked a clearance, leaving Scanes to out pace the Burns defence and rifle a ball into the net. The Redbacks headed into the halftime with a substantial advantage over the home team.

The second half started off where the first ended with Yass putting a lot of pressure on the Burns defence.
Yass’s defence suffered a minor setback when experienced left back Andrew McLean, who had been playing well throughout the match, was helped off the field with an ankle injury. Grant Taylor introduced Tim Hazell who slotted in place and had an outstanding performance.

Division 4 went down in a disastrous defeat by the Burns Club.

Despite Tim Hazell’s efforts, scratching the field with his clean passes and solid attack scoring once, Division 4 were unable to clinch more than the two goals. The second was claimed by Andrew Stephen (Dewy). Hazzel was rewarded with player player.
The Yass Lady Redbacks dominated the field on Sunday with a 7 nil victory over Brindabella. The girls were on the opposition as soon as they kicked off on their home field, the ball preferring the Redbacks quarter. The steady defence of the Bec duo: McLean and Gallagher proved a force to reckon with. Keeper, Indrid Davis was left twiddling thumbs in the nets, with the rest of her team on the attack.
Victoria Alley and Shannon Wright schooled the opposition with tight teamwork, yet Katie Lavina kept consistent pressure on the opposition all game and walked away with players player.
The pitch proved a challenge soaked in water which Jacinta Murphy decided was good enough for swimming in. Although the water was slowing the ball down it couldn’t slow the girls.
The goals went to Victoria Alley (3), Shannon Wright (2), Jacinta Murphy (1) and Ash Parker (1).
The weather dried up a little for the Division 4 game against UC Pumas, but the wind took over from there. Not enough to stop the driving force which was the girls Redbacks on their home turf.
The Ladies won 7-1 with goals scored by Victoria Alley (3), Jacinta Murphy (2), Shannon Wright (1) and Ruth Riach 1.
Positioning with skill Sonia Davis kept her pressure centred on the Puma’s, awarding her players player for the game.
