Three fitness station clusters will be constructed around the Riverbank Park precinct, adding additional health and wellbeing facilities for the community.
“This project has been a fantastic example of a community working together on a common goal,” said Yass Rotary representative, Sophie Winterbourne.
“Rotary was really happy to be involved and threw our support behind this project. We knew that we were going to achieve something that would provide huge benefits to the community.”
“A $20,000 Federal Government Grant, matched by Yass Valley Council, was the foundation that this project needed, and from there the support has just grown,” Council’s building surveyor, John Guiney, explained.
“We have been blown away by the response shown by the community, with businesses and community groups jumping on board to sponsor this project.“
Major sponsors of the project include the Commonwealth Government’s Stronger Communities Grant, Yass Valley Council, Yass Rotary, Bendigo Bank, Yass Football Club, Mount Carmel School, Rob Pollack Concreting, Scott Waters Concreting and the Yass Rams Rugby Club.
A number of community organisations and businesses have voiced their support for the project, with their donation yet to be confirmed.
Yass Valley Council is putting out one final call for sponsors of this exciting community project, with donations to be received by the end of this month.
“The more money we receive for this project the bigger and better we can make it for the residents and visitors of Yass Valley,” Mr Guiney added.
“We aim to have this project completed and ready for use by July.”
