This inaugural event will highlight and showcase the wide variety and diversity of the food, wines, beer and produce that is available within the Canberra region, making it a wonderful weekend event to be held on the 29th and 30th of October.
Event Manager, Elizabeth Newham Nichols, is looking forward to working with the many talented winemakers and producers within the Canberra region. “There is such a wide variety of flavours available within the region”, commented Elizabeth. “It is the perfect opportunity for visitors to sample them all in one place, from South Coast oysters to the tempting tastes of Young and everything in between”.
Not only will there be loads of food and wine to taste, sample and purchase ... there will also be a range of activities that will make the visit truly memorable for both the visitor and the exhibitor. The full schedule of events is currently being finalised but will include cooking demonstrations, wine masterclasses and other presentations.
One of the highlights of the event will be the Saturday night VIP Long Table Banquet where visitors will enjoy an evening of tempting food and wines, complete with entertainment – a spectacular must do event!
“We are excited to be part of this great event initiative and have already booked our stand to promote the Yass Valley region”, said Sean Haylan, Economic Development & Tourism Manager for the Yass Valley. “It will be a highlight on our event calendar and we are very proud that our region was chosen as the venue”.
The Murrumbateman Recreation Grounds is the perfect venue with easy access to amenities such as parking, well known in the wider community and an easy drive from either Canberra or Sydney. With its background in hosting Field Days (held two weeks prior), the grounds are well versed in big events.
It is envisaged that the event will host over 120 stands including some of the famous wine making names and restaurants from the region.
The Festival of Flavour will run from 10am both Saturday, October 29 and Sunday, October 30. Tickets will be available online shortly. To find out more, visit www.festivalofflavour.com.au.
