An elderly man was trapped in his car following a two vehicle collision on the Barton Highway on Friday afternoon.

The man, aged in his 70s, was turning from McIntosh Circuit at Murrumbateman on to the Barton Highway at about 5.40pm when his car collided with another vehicle.
The man’s car caught alight but was extinguished before the fire took hold. It took emergency services an hour to free the man, who was treated and stabilised by paramedics in his car before being transported by ambulance to Canberra Hospital.
The occupants of the second car - a male and female - were also conveyed by road to Canberra Hospital with minor injuries.
Dog attack at Yass High School
Two dogs of mixed breed entered the agricultural farm at Yass High School on Friday morning, and killed and injured a number of animals.
Police say 50 chickens and five sheep were killed in the attack, which occurred at about 6.30am. Ten more sheep were injured. The dogs were seized by a school employee and the matter is now in the hands of the Yass Council ranger.
