In a grand opening at midday on Monday, local constituents and election volunteers came out to help Dr Kelly open the doors to his new office, where he wants to further understand the community.
“A lot of the campaign is about rural communities and while during my time previously as member in the electorate I learnt a lot about the other areas,” Dr Kelly said.
“With the Yass Valley only recently having been placed within the electorate I had had to learn a lot about it and it’s residents.”
Dr Kelly has made over 4900 calls to residents around the Valley and says he is learning more and more by talking to the community.
“By having the office here people can come and learn more about what the labor party is doing and what we stand for.”
The office is at 72 Comur Street in Yass and volunteers will man both the floor and the phones in the lead up to the election. While Dr Kelly has the shop front for several weeks he will not be opening an office in Yass if elected in July.
“We have a certain budget for our office space and we already have one set up in Queanbeyan and Bega,” he continued.
Dr Kelly will be available in the office in Yass throughout the next few weeks.
