As part of the federal government's Black Spot Programme, the Yass Valley Council will receive $160,000 to be put toward safety improvements.
“The Yass Valley Council was successful in receiving a federal government Black Spot Grant,” Melissa Weller, Yass Valley Council's Road Safety Officer said. “We know that safety is an issue on the roundabout, it has been on our priority list for some years.
“We hope these safety improvements will stop accidents like these [the truck accident on Yass Valley Way] from happening.”
The works will begin in the next financial year.
