Dear Editor,
Strength is Unity and Unity is Strength. To negotiate with multinationals it has to be from a position of formidable strength. The ALP was offered the chance in March to agree to some bi-partisanship BEFORE the election. This would provide whoever was elected a very strong negotiating position when trying to get multinationals to pay some tax. Mr Bourke did try to his credit but was soon overruled by the divisiveness of Mr Shorten. Pity. Now we will just have to give Mr Turnbull and Mr Morrison a majority in both houses. What do you think the extra ASIC, ACCC resources and 1000 multinational tax men are for?

Where's Hendy?
Dear Editor,
For three years the people of the Bega Valley Shire have been attempting to engage with our current federal 'representative' Dr Peter Hendy. Over this time Mr Hendy has either refused or not even bothered to decline almost every invitation to attend community information, discussion or celebration events.
He turned up to claim responsibility for Mike Kelly's new Southeast Regional Hospital in Bega yet won't help us get the critical funding we need to staff the bigger wards. He said he'd help with Telstra black spots but nothing happened. He has avoided ALL candidates forums and therefore any opportunity for voters to raise issues or ask questions. He's known down here as The Invisible Man and Hendy Who.
When thinking about who will best represent your region in Yass I ask people to consider whether this attitude, of ignoring constituents, is what you expect from your local member. On July 2 I'll be putting Mr Hendy exactly where he's put us, last.

Response to Brendan Forde
Dear Editor,
In response to Mr Forde's letter in the Yass Tribune dated June 22, re: article which expresses the views of one local sheep grazier; I wasn't aware that freedom of speech had been taken away from us (although this too is sadly disappearing).
Also, I too have family that travel every day on the Barton highway. Both sides of politics have made many promises to fix it but as one 'Dyed in the Wool Conservative' is quoted in saying, "They both make promises they don't intend to keep."
