The Under 6’s travelled to Queanbeyan to take on the Queanbeyan United Gold to pick up our second win of the year. Seth Olah scored 3 of our tries on the day with one of them coming from a run beyond half way showing great speed and hard running reminding me of a young Greg Inglis. Man of the Match went to Cooper Barton.
Under 7’s
The under 7 Magpies slowed down off the play a little this week against a Queanbeyan Blues team with just a couple of strong players with plenty of breaks making it a 40 all score line. Eli Cassidy received the player of the week trophy. George Foran and Jack Ryan both crossed the line for three tries, with George taking out a special player of the week trophy.
Under 8’s
This week saw the Under 8 take on West Belconnen at Kippax. The Magpies put another win under their belts, with the final score being 26 – 18. Mitchell Blundell found the try line 3 times and Max Buser scoring two for himself. The conversions were kicked by Riley Naiper-Cole, Max Buser and Jett McGrath. A well-deserved Jett McGrath took the player of the match this week.
Under 9’s
The Under 9’s traveled to West Belconnen last Sunday. Man of the Match Josh Inkster threw himself into the teeth of the oppositions defence and also backed it up being heavily involved in his own team’s defence.
Under 11’s
Under 11 played at Kambah on the weekend, against an improved Tuggeranong Buffaloes Team. Mark who has only been with the team for a few games, is improving each week with his confidence. Yass went down 28 to 12.
Under 13’s
The Under 13’s went down to the Queanbeyan Roos 10 tries to 2 last Sunday at Freebody Oval. Only 13 players available the Magpies began well, regularly dominating second and third tackle efforts. The final score was 52 to 8, the Roos defeating Yass. Tries went to Patrick McPhillips (1) and Jack Callahan (1). Player of the match went to Charlie Beck.
Under 14’s
The under 14s magpies took on Goulburn last Sunday. having lost quite a number of players over the last few weeks because of injury, they took to the field with 11 players. The final score being 50-8 and well deserved players player was Kai Douven.
Under 16’s
Friday was the third game in 8 days and the 16’s knew they would have to dig deep - The North Canberra Bears being the front-runners of the competition. Yass got the win 22-12, Points going to Tyler Waters (2) Lachy Davis (1) and Blake Watson. Player’s player was Josh Davy
