Please think twice before handing over any of your personal details over the phone, especially private PIN numbers.
Never give your personal, credit card or on-line account details over the phone unless you made the call and the phone number came from a trusted source, especially your PIN number.
If you are like me you would struggle to remember the thousands of different passwords and PIN numbers connected to every little account, however if you are lucky enough to remember what they are, do not tell anyone over the phone!!
Don’t let scammers pressure you – scammers use detailed scripts to convince you that they’re the real deal and create a high pressure situation to make a decision on the spot.
Please be wary of any contact over the phone, and if you believe you have been a victim of a scam contact police immediately. If you think you have provided your account details to a scammer, contact your bank or financial institution immediately. Make sure you report if you have lost money as a result of a scam to your local Police Station. You can also report scams to the ACCC via the SCAMwatch report a scam page or by calling 1300 795 995.
Some good results over our roads of recent times, however there is the odd idiot who keeps our Highway Patrol and General Duties staff busy.
We came across one such idiot in the early hours of Sunday, August 7 when our local police thought they had identified a fair speed after they tried to stop a car clocked at 150kph in the 110kph zone.
When the police car got up behind the vehicle, the driver increased to 215kph before he realised who was behind and then slowed and came to a stop.
A chap from Chester Hill on P1 licence was spoken to and later a search located small amount of cannabis and a folding knife. He will also have to face the cranky owner of the car who has now had his car confiscated.
I take things a little personal when it comes to what happens on our roads so I will continue to make sure we have all our available police out on the roads targeting road rules and conducting random breath and drug testing.
I know most of you do the right thing however I will continue to urge our community to take care on our roads and drive safely.
Otherwise if you don't, you will get caught.
