The hound looks the best bet in Tuesday’s Palmerbet 1-3 Wins Final (race nine, 350m).

The son of Collision and Poker Boys jumps from box four in the decider after qualifying with a sizzling 19.85 run from the same box in last week’s heats.

Poker Date stormed home by five-and-three-quarter lengths.

The win extended his career record to four wins and nine minor placings from 26 starts.

The former Victorian does mix his form, but looks ideally suited to this distance and on current form looks tough to stop.

Chiricahua (box five) was almost as impressive in the heats and looks the likely strongest challenger.

The latest hot newcomer for Peter Sims, Chiricahua won a tough heat in 19.90, and will start outside Poker Date in the final, which may prove decisive.

Donna’s Desire (box six) can continue her terrific form with victory in the day’s other feature race, the Young to Goulburn Final (race 10, 350m). The Thelma O’Keefe-trained speedster has won her last two races, including a smart 20.09 win from box three in last week’s heats.

She has placed twice in four previous starts wearing the green rug and won at Goulburn in May.

The four heats of the quaddie (races 5-8) are the heats of the Palmerbet-Goulburn Sprint Series (440m).

Get on Mimpi (box two), Celestial Prince (box seven), King Of Class (box one) and Zipping Tatum (box one) in the respective races.

Debutante Clouded Acorn (box three) has performed impressively in performance trials.

Clouded Acorn can win the day’s opening race, the Goulburn Post Maiden (350m).

The Tammy Thorpe-trained newcomer clocked 20.09 in a recent performance trial and a repeat of that would likely win this.

Eleven races are on the card and action starts at 12.12pm.
