The NSW Yard Dog Association (NSWYDA) will hold the NSW Yard Dog and Championships in Boorowa for the first time on Saturday–Sunday, October 1–2.

While this is the first time for Boorowa, it will be the state’s 30-year anniversary with the sport.
The event will be held at the Boorowa St Joseph’s Primary School (Scott Street) at 7am–5pm on both days.
The NSW Championships will also coincide with the South West Slopes Dog Trial Championships and Irish Woolfest weekend in Boorowa.
The championships are a competitive dog sport that involves dogs moving sheep around a field, fences, gates and enclosures as directed by their handlers.
The South West Slopes event will lead up to the NSW Championships.
It will have four divisions: maiden, novice, improver and open.
Only dogs in improver and open divisions can qualify for the NSW Championships.
The competitions will require farm dogs to compete in trial events that mimic real-life farm work.
Both the South West Slopes and NSW Championships will consist of three obstacles: a drenching race, draught work and sheep loading.
The state has had success in hosting yard dog competitions as seen earlier in 2016 where it hosted the 2016 Australian Yard Dog Championships in West Wyalong.
Judges talk will commence at 7:15 am and trials at 7:30 am.
The championships will be run according to NSWYDA rules.
Non-members of the NSWYDA will be required to complete an Application for Temporary Membership form on the day of the trial.

The Boorowa Working Dog Club may:
- restrict dogs to a single class;
- limit entries;
- change the program at any time; and,
- reserve the right to inspect any and/or all bitches.
Bitches in oestrus are not permitted on the grounds
