Yellow Belly
Due to the flooding rains over the past few weeks the fishing reports have been few and far between.
Last weekend we did have some sunshine and the fishermen started to appear.
The edge bite with worms and small yabbies or shrimp, if you can find them, is producing the best results.
The shallows at Scrubby Flats have started to liven up as has the Yass river arm.
There have been a few reports filtering in from the Woolgarlo end.
A couple of good reports of Yellows hitting trolled lures hard is encouraging.
The biggest fish this week on the catch sheet was a 52 cm taken on a Yabbie followed by a 49cm on a Viking lure.
The Yellows would normally be biting well at the top end of Burrinjuck by mid- September.
This year’s rainfall and inflows, however, have thrown everything out of whack.
Redfin
There are a few fish still being caught around the edges on worms and the odd fish taking a lure.
The Redfin will also start to school up as the water warms.
Late Spring we will start to see the big numbers of Redfin on the catch sheets.
Burrinjuck news
School holidays have started so bring the family down to see the dam at 100 per cent.
The waterfalls continue to run all around the dam as well as several on the way in on Burrinjuck Road.
The new commercial tour boat has finally arrived.
The “NV Getaway” will seat 12 passengers and 2 crew.
It will be used for trips across Burrinjuck Dam to the caves, tours of the dam and to ferry the Hume and Hovell walkers across the lake.
We have submitted paperwork to NSW Maritime and are awaiting a permit to operate before we hit the water.
I am also seeking a second skipper with a coxswain certificate and a qualified general purpose hand to operate the vessel on a casual basis.
Those interested, who live close by, can call 62278114 with their details.
