Water, water everywhere. We should be happy, or at least relieved, that we are not enduring flooding as so many areas are but it is hard not to whinge about the constant rain and mud and not getting the washing dry etc, etc. It is also difficult to imagine just what it would be like to experience flooding such as the people of Forbes and Wagga and surrounding areas are experiencing at present. Even Boorowa was an eye opener last week with several areas under water, which almost reached the main street and flooded parks and many low lying areas. I had a conversation with some of the travellers from about 100 caravans on the showground because the caravan park was under water, and many of them bogged. They were still able to laugh about their predicament.

The water, water everywhere practically ensured that the inaugural Binalong Sand Challenge would not be the success the organisers had hoped for. A few cancellations from Canberra players reduced the fields to locals only. Unfortunately, no support was forthcoming from surrounding clubs. With such awful weather influencing decisions on whether to play or not to play, it is difficult to gauge the interest the event may have created in more pleasant conditions.
Thanks to all those hard working volunteers, the course is an absolute picture and it is disappointing that there were no visitors there to appreciate the natural beauty of the area. It may have been a little damp, but still beautiful.
Locals are anticipating an evening of fun at the golf club on October 15 when "A Blast from the Past" (Brian and Annie) will provide music from that era. Rake out your 50s gear (I'm probably still wearing mine) and rock’n roll the night away and enjoy a cup of tea and a piece of slice – all for $20.
The final school bulletin for term three tells us that school is over until October 10 when all shall return to face the final few weeks of the school year, and for some, the final few weeks at Binalong School. Kids and parents are asked to remember that school pics will be taken on Thursday, October 13.
The application for a Sporting Schools grant was unsuccessful so the program will not continue in the coming term.
The best news for last, the local kids finished second in the Small Schools Soccer Knockout Finals.Congratulations to them all. The students and staff also congratulate Miss O'Connor and Darren Walsh on their wedding.
