The rainfall recorded in the Yass Valley during September 2016 was more than seven times that of September 2015, breaking records set in the 1970s.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology website (BOM), in the first 28 days of September 2016 165 millimeters of rain fell across the valley.
This is compared to 22.5 millimetres for the entire 30 days of the month last year.
This is the largest amount of rain recorded during September in the Yass Valley since 1978, when 149.4 millimetres of rain fell.
September 2016 also experienced the most amount of rain recorded on a single day throughout September since 1974 when 45.4 millimetres of rain fell on the fifth day of the month.
The most rainfall was recorded on September 22, 2016, when 48.2 millimetres fell throughout Yass.
The average amount of rainfall usually experienced in Yass in September is 56.8 millimetres, over an average of 7.6 days of rain in the month.
It rained for a total of 16 days in September 2016.
