His individual innings is more than half of the Piranhas’ total of 284 runs for seven wickets, resulting in a dominant victory after the Gunners were all out for 152 runs.
Asked about his performance, Poidevin said he saw the ball well.
“It felt pretty good. It was my day, hitting the ball felt sweet. I reckon I would’ve got 200 if not for the running mix-up” he said.
Poidevin said consistent contributions from all team members ensured the victory.
“It was a good team win. It wasn't just me. The whole team played very well. The bowlers did a very good job in building pressure and restricting the Gunners,” he said.
Poidevin also credited lead bowler Carl Kemp.
“He spearheaded the attack with his five wickets.”
Poidevin himself finished with bowling figures of 3/28, including three maidens from his nine overs.
Meanwhile, it was a closer match between the Yass Golf Club Snipers and Bowning Buffaloes at Victoria Park. In a low-scoring affair, the Snipers won by 45 runs after bowling Bowning out for 91.
Winning the toss, the Buffaloes sent the Snipers into bat. It appeared to be a good ploy with a couple of early wickets but the middle order steadied and recovered for 10/136. Craig Irwin made a solid half century.
Pick of the bowlers was Beau Walker with figures of 3/19 from nine overs. In support was Anthony James O'Mara, Jim Burleigh and Andrew Swaffield, who all claimed two wickets each. With the total set, Bowning set to chase it down but the task seemed out of reach with David Brown falling early. Beau walker was striking the ball well before falling on 21.
Andrew Swaffield and Matt Clifton began to steady the ship and both looking solid before they both fell. The rest of the wickets fell for not many or no runs before they were all out on 91 and falling short of the total. Snipers’ captain David Field led the bowling attack with 3/9.
In the Sweeney Cup, two of three games had close finishes. In Bowning, Binalong scored a low 108 but was able to restrict the Aussie Hotel Pirates for only 101. In Binalong, the Yass Golf Club Taipans managed to bowl out the Boorowa Gators three runs short of victory.
