As the sun rises on January 26 each year, you will find the hard working volunteers of the Yass Rotary Club firing up the barbie at Coronation Park.
One of those, and now Yass Valley deputy mayor, Kim Turner said the Rotary breakfast has been a highlight of the local Australia Day celebrations for “forever and a day”…
“We’ve been doing it for as long as I’ve been in Rotary, which is at least 20 years,” Mr Turner said.
“It is a way for us to return something to the community. We don’t charge for the breakfast and it’s an opportunity for Rotary to say ‘thank you’.”
Australia Day celebrations in Coronation Park will kick off at 7am. Breakfast will be followed by the Australia Day Awards. Face painting, a jumping castle and playground will keep the children entertained.
