The proceeds, a total of $1330, were raised during the inaugural Titty Cup softball match between the teams on Friday, February 4 at Walker Park, where the Dodgers squeaked home by one run.
Aussie Heat captain Trish Rickets, Dodgers captain Cazz Blyss and Spud Scott presented the funds to Karyn Callaughan and Karolyn Bush from Circle of Friends.
The charity supports the financial pressure on families and help prepare young mums for arriving babies. The match contributes to this by helping clothe and entertain many children to provide as much relief as possible.
As part of the match, players from the losing team—the Aussie Heat—had to wear their bras on the outside of their shirts. Dodgers’ player Spud Scott thanked its supporters.
“A big thank you to all volunteer umpires on the day—Helen Bush, Maureen Bray and Desne Pack. Without these amazing ladies, we could not have had a game,” she said.
The Dodgers describe the charity match as a dream come true. “We hope it will be an annual event on the Yass sporting calendar,” it said in a statement. As part of the event, the teams continued celebrations at the Australian Hotel with live music by Mark Smith.
