Around 900 homes and businesses in Murrumbateman are now eligible to connect to the NBN, setting new benchmarks for the area’s broadband speeds and reliability.

Telstra Area General Manager Chris Taylor said the launch of Telstra services on the NBN around Murrumbateman would give locals the opportunity to use a variety of new and emerging technologies.

“The introduction of the NBN in Murrumbateman marks the beginning of a new brilliantly connected era for locals,” Mr Taylor said.

“The launch of the NBN comes as broadband use in Australia has reached unprecedented levels.

“The streaming video revolution is accelerating demand for fast, reliable connectivity, with more than half of Telstra’s fixed broadband traffic now video related.

“With the launch of Telstra TV, we’ve brought the best streaming video services together in a single device including BigPond Movies, Netflix, Stan, SBS On Demand, PLUS 7 and 9Jumpin to give our customers the choice of watching what they want, when they want.”

Mr Taylor said Telstra staff had been gearing up for the launch for several months with local technicians and store staff, including those at the Gungahlin store, receiving special training to help residents seamlessly transition to the NBN.

“We are aiming to ensure the process is simple for those looking to sign up with Telstra,”  Mr Taylor continued.

“One call to our dedicated customer service centre team and we can help take care of the rest.”

Telstra is also providing a range of sophisticated, NBN optimised technology for home and the office to ensure customers enjoy high speed connectivity inside their home or business.

The NBN has now reached four million premises now Ready for Service, the milestone means that it is available to more than one third of all Australian premises.
