Murray Cod: We had a couple of fishing clubs during March 11–12. The Wagga Family Fishing Club managed eight cods between them—the biggest being 57cm all on lures. Tim Mathieson from Wagga caught the biggest fish at 120cm. He did so while casting a 150mm King Hit Lure in the Bidgee Arm around midnight. He also landed an 80cm fish during the day on a Cod Lolly spinner bait. Steve from the WWAI club won the trophy with an 86cm cod trolled up on a boomerang hard body. That was Steve’s high. He had a couple of lows, punching a hole in the side wall of his new two-day old tyre, breaking the shaft on his electric motor and then had to get the NRMA out to take the Amarok back to Yass for repairs. The full moon was the March 13 so there is still a couple of days left to sneak in a moonlight fishing trip.
