Mr Davey, based in Canberra, said the impetus for attending Anzac Day in Yass was his interest in the country town. “I’ve been to Yass a couple of times in the last few months to photograph Clementine. I also been through the town with a friend photographing Yass, which is a really interesting place photographically,” he said.

“It was always in the back of my mind. It’s an interest of mine to photograph these small towns that seem to have a regeneration. It was a toss-up between Yass and Goulburn.”

On his blog, Davey wrote: “Anzac Day is really the only day in this country's calendar when the streets of small towns like Yass become full, with people lining the footpaths to honour those marching who have served, as well as the memory of those whose medals are worn by younger generations marching in their absence”.
