Steve says the reason he decided to get into the game of selling fine pre-loved automobiles was he “realised that towns smaller than Yass had specialist used car yards, but Yass didn’t.”

As a long-time resident of Yass, Steve told us that he remembers a time when the people of this town used to have lots of choice when shopping for vehicles, but that choice had diminished over the years.

Equally significantly, Steve’s lifelong passion has always been cars, and he feels that he has an extensive knowledge of the car market.

Not one to take an unnecessary risk on a bold new venture however, Steve decided that it would be a good idea to test the local market  over a number of months during 2016, just selling some cars as a part time venture.

During this time, the support he received from the local community was very encouraging. As a result of that success, the decision was made to turn it into a full time operation with the support of his wife Lesley.

Steve is also confident that he offers the quality that the business’s name declares. He strives to gather the best cars from statewide and local sources. Each car is then workshop tested and prepared for sale to avoid any likely issues.

“Yass RMS has also been a great help in all the legalities of getting established as a dealer” he adds.

As such, he has become a licensed motor vehicle dealer and a member of the NSW Motor Trades Association.

In terms of looking after his customers, Steve loves matching the client with the right vehicle for their needs. He prides himself on his ability to provide solid after-sales support.

He also wants people to know that honesty and integrity are very important in everything he does.

Steve works very hard to keep his pricing as competitive and affordable as possible. Buying from a dealer sometimes means inflated prices, but this is not the case at Steve’s Quality Cars. Steve also offers warranty on most older cars even when a statutory warranty is not legally required.

Steve is steadily growing the number of used cars on the yard and wants to continue to expand his stock to match the local demand. Steve is also hopeful of growing the business to a point where he can start offering new cars to the Yass Valley.
