There were some big runs by Albert and Lucas, but the defence was too good to get over the line.
A quick run down the side line from Uni Norths saw the first points on the board. Debutant Blake was quick to even the score with a sneaky try in the corner.
It was not long before the opposition also found the corner to get back in front on the score board.
In the second half, the Rams showed some great defence. However, Uni Norths were able to sneak past for a try.
Once the Rams had the ball back in possession, Ryan, Blake and Joseph were relentless with their attack on the try line with Albert finally making it over.
Ashton, Lucas and Joseph continued with their great defence to prevent Uni Norths from scoring again. Well done under 7s for a great game of footy.
Under 8s
The under 8s took on Gungahlin in round two, which provided yet another entertaining match. Both sides were evenly matched and 6–6. The game started well for the Rams who were able to gain ascendency through some excellent defence.
Clean ball provided by some great work in the ruck had Lachie run through and score four tries to put Yass in front 4–3 at the break.
In the second half, Gungahlin hit back and managed to take the lead after scoring two long-range tries. Yass was not done yet and continued to hit back with some great attack.
Eventually they were able to break the line, with both Declan Cooke and Samuel able to score to tie the game at full time.
Under 10s
The under 10s were courageous in defeating a well drilled Uni Norths in a tough game. Yass was behind at halftime and came out in the second half to post three unanswered tries and claim victory 27–17.
Tries to Baxter Sicily (3), Hugh Merriman and Jeremy Bremner and a conversion to Morrie Hyles.
After only their third game together, the team shows signs of a promising season.
The defensive work of the team in the second half showed that they have a tremendous will to win and play hard rugby right to full-time.
Congratulations U10s, you can be proud of your efforts to claim a tough win.
