The Hume LAC, local sponsoring businesses and a motor dealer in Goulburn collaborated to achieve the initiative.
On June 20, Binalong was the first town to see it.
Yass Police Inspector Alison Brennan said the vehicle would be used for 12 months for community-engagement purposes.
“It’s a drawcard to talk to residents about crime prevention and other policing issues,” Inspector Brennan said.
The vehicle visited Yass at the ‘Coffee with a Cop’ initiative at Kaffeine on June 23.
Inspector Brennan said the event discussed road safety with residents.
Hume LAC officers attended to promote its collaboration with Yass Valley Council on the Country Roads Safety program ‘You don’t have to be speeding to be driving too fast on country roads’.
“It’s a chance for us to engage and educate the community,” Inspector Brennan said.
Inspector Brennan again urged residents to drive to conditions.
“Especially with country roads, such as Yass Valley Way and Lachlan Valley Way,” she said.
“People may think 100 kilometres an hour is a speed they can drive all the time: it’s not. Sometimes they need to consider darkness, fog and animals.
“Essentially, people need to slow down to road conditions and take other drivers into consideration.
Any chance to talk to business, schools and community organisations about this issue was always welcomed, the Inspector said.
