“The quartet is one of the up and coming quartets performing in Australia with great success,” club secretary Brian Millet said.
“They have endeavored to present refreshing and attractive music to lovers of classical music,” Mr Millet said
The Acacia Quartet was founded in 2010 by violinists Lisa Stewart and Myee Clohessy, violist Stefan Duwe and cellist Anna Martin-Scrase.
They describe themselves as “four friends with a passion for chamber music”.
“It’ll be the first time for us in Yass. We contacted the club to create some interest and find the right time, which we’re glad has happened,” Mr Duwe said.
He said the band looked forward to seeing the township. “We’ve driven past it but haven’t had the chance to see Yass yet. This time we’ll get to see the town and meet the people,” he said.
Acacia Quartet has won great respect for their versatile and inventive programs.
In just five years, Acacia has released many albums, including their ARIA-nominated recordings of songs with soprano Jane Sheldon.
As well as their three CD releases to date, Acacia has a long list of collaborations with some of Australia’s finest soloists and presented many world premier compositions.
In 2013, the quartet was finalist in the 2013 Art Music Awards in the category of ‘Excellence by an Organisation’.
The quartet has a special relationship with composers Elena Kats-Chernin and her music features in the beautiful ‘Rosamunde’ program they will perform for the Yass Music Club.
