In the division two, plays between the Redbacks and ANU were evenly matched. However, the home side was able to break the deadlock in the latter part of the first half.
Yass scored the opening goal after a sustained attack and holding field possession in ANU’s half. With minutes remaining, ANU responded with a cross towards goal that hit the back of the net. Fortunately for the Redbacks, it was ruled a handball.
The home side held off ANU to lead 1–0 at the break.
At the start of the second half, Yass came out firing to score early. The second goal was a volley tap-in from a corner kick.
From there, the Redbacks created more controlled attacking in ANU’s half, allowing more shots at goals. Yass’ defence also played a strong role to hold off some late attacking charges by ANU.
Final score was a 2–0 win to leave division two sixth on the ladder with one round left. Goals went to Jacinta Murphy and Rose Murphy.
In division four, the Redbacks won 3–1 against Weston Molonglo at Walker Park. The home side began strongly, scoring first within 10 minutes after dominating possession. Ash Parker scored two while Kat Farnsworth scored one. They will play Belwest Foxes in Mawson on August 20.
