The Roos won comfortably with a final score of 11.10-76 to the Rams’ 4.7-31.
It was deja vu for both teams as they faced off in the 2016 preliminary final.
However, it was the men in blue and white who dominated and and increased their lead each quarter, with Adam Curtois kicking three through the middle.
Coach Terry Lemon said he thought it was a great display of skills and performance.
“We hung in there with a quality opposition,” he said.
In the penultimate quarter, Yass dominated field possession and showed no mercy to their opponents.
The Roos scored a goal on the buzzer to compound the damage.
In the final term, the Roos’ momentum did not slow, striking first courtesy of a goal by Jarrad Forlonge.
Asked about whether they discussed the 2016 preliminary final against the Rams, Lemon said they did.
“We discussed the fact we had a good record against them in finals and wanted to continue it. The final margin was unexpected, though,” he said.
Best players went to Macauly Harvie, Paul Willersdorf, Toby Serafin, Brendan Foran, Ryan Forlonge and Marc Brooks.
The Roos will play the ANU Griffins at South Oval, Acton, on August 27 for a place in the grand final. Lemon said they will go through various drills at training to prepare.
“We’ll see how everyone pulls up after training. So far, there’s been no injuries,” he said.
When rating the team’s chances of progressing to the grand final, Lemon said he was “quietly confident”.
First ball up is set for 12pm.
